I had some ground chicken I had picked up to make chili with but REALLY felt like grilling because because it's been sooooo nice out and so I quested a chicken burger recipe on the web and found a yummy looking one at the Dainty Chef and got busy with a loose adaptation. The burgers came out very moist and the sauce had an awesome tang.
Sweet Chili BBQ Chicken Burgers |
For the
BBQ sauce:
1 cup POMI strained tomatoes
1 cup POMI strained tomatoes
1/4 cup agave syrup or honey
2 TBSP onion powder
4 TBSP Worcestershire sauce
2 TBSP Dijon mustard
4 TBSP Sweet Chili Sauce
For the burgers:
1 lb ground chicken
2 TBSP onion powder
4 TBSP Worcestershire sauce
2 TBSP Dijon mustard
4 TBSP Sweet Chili Sauce
I prefer Iron Chef Panko because it's made from Wheat & Evaporated Cane Juice :) |
1 lb ground chicken
1/2 cup panko
2 scallions, chopped
1 TBSP paprika
1 TBSP garlic powder
1 tsp dry mustard
1/2 tsp kosher
salt
2 tsp evap. cane juice or sugar
5 tbsp BBQ sauce {see above}
WHAT YOU DO:
Rub your grill with oil or spray with nonstick then preheat on high.
For the BBQ sauce:
I mixed everything together over low heat for 10 minutes stirring occasionally while I gathered and chopped all my burger ingredients.
For the burgers:
Mix everything together and form into patties. This recipe is for 4 burgers... I doubled it and made 8 {and we had leftovers for lunch}.
Place them on your preheated drill and reduce the heat to medium high. Cook for 4 minutes on first side then flip {on a new hot spot if possible} and reduce heat to low, close grill cover and cook for 10 minutes.
Crack open beer & serve with extra sauce drizzled on top. Perfection.

Mmmm, I'll eat more chicken any day with your sauce!
ReplyDeleteYes - this is exactly how you spice up chicken. Grand burger!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of adding a little chili sauce into the mix - I usually go for a more traditional ketchup based sauced, but this sounds really good!
ReplyDeleteSuperlicious recipe. I will surely make it in this barbecue special month.
ReplyDeleteMmmm that sauce sounds amazing !
ReplyDeleteFYI ... Sending some major blog love your way. I just passed on the Kreativ Blogger and Sunshine Award to you. You can read about it at Food Stories :-)
ReplyDeleteYum yum yum! I'll take this for dinner please :) I'm sooo ready for the rain to stop at home because grilling sounds so good right now!
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried a chicken burger yet but I make meatballs with ground chicken breast all the time and they're delicious...not to mention way healthier than beef.
ReplyDeleteSounds delicious! Love panko. I've never tried Iron Chef Panko, I'll have to grab some when I'm back in NA for a visit!
ReplyDeleteYummy!
ReplyDeleteI would have chicken every day if it was with that sauce! =)
I think my brother would dig this recipe like crazy - thanks for the wonderful tip :D
